When Can I Have a Circumcision?

Dr Read performs circumcisions Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. Ideally a first appointment is made to discuss the procedure and it is arranged for a subsequent day. This appointment is bulkbilled. If you have to travel a long way or have limited time, same day procedures can be arranged.

If you decide to go ahead and book a circumcision you will need to purchase a circumcision kit, which contains EMLA numbing cream and the Kenacomb ointment for afterwards. EMLA is applied to the entire penis and then the penis is wrapped in simple kitchen plastic wrap for two hours before the procedure. Use the whole tube to ensure coverage. You are asked to sign a consent form and are given an identification bracelet to put on your baby. Dr Read will take your baby and with the help of his experienced nursing staff perform the procedure. Your boy will be returned to you for comforting and feeding after the procedure and Dr Read will explain the post operative management.
